JACQUELINE BYBERG
Senior Legal Counsel
What's your favorite transit memory? It was just a regular day, I was on the Go Train heading home and the next stop was York University. But on this day, traffic was a nightmare... and to make things worse, the train broke down. Cue the collective groans and eye rolls from all of us on board. We waited and waited, feeling stuck and helpless, eventually, we were told to get off at the next station. But then something unexpected happened. All these different regional transit companies started showing up. At first, we were all confused as to why so many different companies were there when only one was responsible, but then it became clear – everyone had shown up to help out.
As we got off the train, an employee was there to assist us with anything we needed. Whether it was finding a new way home or asking for directions. It was a little messy but I was amazed to see all the different companies coming together to help, like a mini United Nations of transportation. I saw strangers talking like old friends and I don’t think the kindness and camaraderie of that moment was lost on anyone. What do you like most about being part of the public transit industry? It’s an industry that transforms the way people move and connect. Public transit isn't just about getting from Point A to B, it's about people. Enabling transit companies to deliver efficient, reliable, and safe services not only gets people to their destinations but fosters and builds communities.
I love being part of an industry that is revolutionizing the way people travel and a company empowering transit operators to provide better service to their communities. The work we do has a tangible impact on people's lives, from the little things like getting them to work on time to the big ones and everything in between. Our industry enables people to participate in life's moments both big and small.
